What is Nutritional Therapy ?

Nutritional Therapy is an evidence-based complementary medicine aimed at promoting health and wellbeing. As Nutritional Therapists we assess, identify and address nutritional and lifestyle imbalances and their contribution to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns, as well as their contributive role in the development of chronic diseases.

In order to identify these imbalances, we use a wide range of tools, including lab testing when appropriate. We then focus on the root cause(s) in order to restore and maintain health, as opposed to simply addressing the presenting symptom(s). We often work alongside medical professionals and other suitably qualified healthcare professionals, to comprehensively address health concerns.

What is Health ?

It would be somewhat incorrect to assume that health can simply be defined by the “absence of disease“. Indeed, health can only result from the combination of optimum levels in several interconnected aspects of life.

The definition by the World Health Organisation (WHO), in its 1948 constitution, states that:
“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

Nutritional Medicine combined with Lifestyle Therapy support the body’s natural healing processes and can help with regaining health, which is achieved by addressing the imbalances that result in symptoms’ manifestations.

If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have found the safest way to health.
